Sparkden Academy

You learn to code
by doing it, not watching it.

A learning studio for teenagers. Every lesson moves one idea at a time. You type real code out over ghost text, and the page you're building runs live next to you.

how a lesson works

One idea on screen at a time.

1

One idea at a time

A step is one screen: a couple of sentences and a few lines of code. No forty-minute video with the answer buried at minute 32.

2

Type it over the ghost text

The code sits on the page, faint, and you type it out keystroke by keystroke. It feels like tracing, but it builds real muscle memory.

3

Watch it run beside you

The page you're building runs live next to the lesson. You see what every line does the moment you type it.

4

Keep what you build

By the last course you're not doing exercises anymore. You're building your personal site, on a real URL, that you can send to anyone.

A lesson step called Two buttons: code typed 20% of the way over ghost text, with the page being built running in a live preview
A lesson opener, Why Good Sites Look Good, listing what you'll have built by the end
the syllabus

Eight courses, eighteen lessons.

It starts with what actually happens when you load a web page and ends with your own site on a real URL. Every course has you typing real code within the first couple of minutes.

The Academy dashboard: a 2-day streak, a 12-week activity heatmap, 300 XP at level 3, and the next lesson queued up
the dashboard

A streak you won't want to break.

Steps pay XP. XP stacks into levels, the heatmap fills in week by week, and the streak counter is exactly as hard to walk away from as it is everywhere else.
